Executive Function and Goal-Setting: Reaching the Target for Academic Success and Beyond
Presented by: Donna Kincaid, M.Ed., & Barbara Hunter, M.Ed.
Students often struggle to create “realistic” goals. In fact, most of the goals students create for themselves are often vague and unattainable. Students are often unable to see how their day-to-day responsibilities will help them reach their goals, and, as a result, they are left feeling frustrated. As educators, one of the most useful strategies we can teach our students is how to set reasonable goals for school and for life. In this training, attendees will explore how to use CANDO goals to set students up for success, creating appropriately challenging goals for any task, from test taking, projects and essays to personal interests and lifelong dreams. Through hands-on activities, attendees will learn how to teach goal-setting in practical ways that will motivate and empower students to take a more active role in their present and future achievements.
